Idea Cellular
Limited (Idea) today announced its audited results for the
fourth quarter and the financial year ended 31 March 2008.
Idea closed
the year with a subscriber base of 24 million, 71 per cent
over the previous year end, reflecting an improvement in the
national market share from 8.6 per cent to 9.4 per cent.
Quarterly
performance
The consolidated revenues for the quarter ended 31 March 2008
of Rs. 19,853 million grew by 16 per cent, and EBITDA of Rs.
6,735 million is up by 18 per cent, on a quarter on quarter
basis. The cash profit from operations of Rs.5505 million
rose by 12 per cent over the quarter ended December 2007.
The net profit for the quarter ended 31 March 2008 was Rs.
2767 million, a growth of 17 per cent over the previous quarter.
Annual
performance
The
consolidated revenues and EBITDA for the financial year ended
31 March 2008 were Rs. 67,374 million and Rs.2,2693 million,
up 54 per cent and 53 per cent respectively, vis-à-vis
the previous year. The cash profit for the full year ended
31 March 2008 was Rs. 19,841 million, representing a 69 per
cent rise, while the net profit was Rs.10,423 million, an
increase of 108 per cent over the previous year.
Note:
Figures for past periods have been regrouped. Finance and
treasury charges represent interest and financing cost net
of investment income and forex gains/losses.
